Terms and Conditions
FOR CUSTOM CAKES AND CATERING
We have an appointment only policy to ensure the cake ordering process is stress free and enjoyable. The only days for appointments are Tuesday to Saturday. Alternatively we can quote and complete the ordering process via email.
Our preferred payment methods are electronic bank transfer or cash.
DEPOSIT, CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
For orders less than $200, payment is required in full to secure the order. For orders over $200 a 50% deposit is required upon ordering and will be applied towards the contracted cake and is deducted from the final invoice. If the deposit isn't received within 7 days after the invoice is sent, the booking will be cancelled and the date will be released back to the general public. Upon receipt of the deposit, we will reserve the event date.
The balance of the invoice is due in full 2 weeks before delivery or pickup. If an order is not picked on the day of delivery or delivery is denied, the client is responsible for any additional costs. We will make every attempt to contact the client in the event of a missed pickup date or denied delivery. If balance is not paid by the above mentioned 2 weeks prior to event we have the right to change the design of the cake/catering to meet within the deposit amount paid, or withdraw from the cake/catering with no refund.
If the event is less than a week away, the invoice will be due in full 3 days from the date it is sent out.
In the event of cancellation:
- All requests for cancellation must be made in writing.
- If a cancellation is received more than 16 weeks prior to the agreed delivery date, the aforementioned 50% deposit (or full payment) will be refunded less $100 administrative fee. If the total deposit (or full amount) amount is less than $100, there will be no refund.
- If a cancellation is received less than 16 weeks prior to the agreed delivery date, the aforementioned deposit (or full payment) is forfeited.
Delivery is quoted as an additional fee based on location. Certain cakes can not be picked up as they may require assembly on site.
DESIGN AND FLAVOUR CHANGES
All design, quantity and cake flavours must be confirmed 2 weeks before the event.
The overall design of the cake must be confirmed before a deposit is placed. Once a desposit is placed your order is secure and may not be changed. Minor changes to the design may be accepted after a deposit is placed but major changes may result in a re-quote and administration fee. Major changes to the design of the cake is not accepted within 12 weeks before event.
Our cakes are made to order, so if you have a flavour in mind, let us know and we'll do everything we can. Our basic cake flavours are listed in the flavours menu.
RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL
Discovery of new information, changes to agreed circumstances or other factors, might result in a withdrawal. Non co-operation, changes to location, facilities or available times, missed appointments, non-confirmation of quote acceptance and late payments are examples of contributing factors. The deposit will not be refunded in this circumstance.
Paper&Poppies will not be held responsible for any nut allergies. All cakes COULD contain traces of nut. It is the responsibility of clients to inform their guests that traces of nuts COULD be present in the cake.
Although every possible care will be taken with the delivery and set up of the cakes, once delivered the cake becomes the responsibility of clients and we cannot be held responsible for any destruction of the cake or products once they are in the care of clients.
We reserve the right to use any photos we take of your creation for any media related activities such as our website, blog, facebook or advertising.
We reserve the right to any minor alterations on the design if we deem necessary. Please note that our creations are all hand made and custom made and no two designs, even if produced by the same artist, are exactly alike.
For delivered cakes:
We take every precaution to ensure all our cakes are decorated and structured properly, and it's highly unlikely that something will go wrong. Occasionally, incidents may occur that are out of our control (e.g. accidents, humidity). Please be assured we will do everything in our power to correct any damage that may have been done to the cake which may be through minor changes to the design (e.g. adding ribbon, flowers, replacing tiers with a dummy tier or moving some decorations around). However, if the above mentioned is not an option, as an absolute last resort, we may have to provide you with an existing display cake and compensate you after the event. Once the cake has been received by the venue in good order we will not be liable for any damage.
For picked up cakes:
By picking up a custom cake you are then liable for any damage caused throughout transport or whilst at the venue you are taking it to. Please check upon pick up that the cake is as per request and in good order. Once picked up we will not be liable for any damage. Please take notice of the cake care guide to assist with transport and storage. Cakes are affected by incorrect handling, temperature and humidity and therefore need to be transported carefully.

If we decide to change our term and conditions, we will post those changes on this page, and it is client's responsibility to read all of our terms and conditions before ordering.
